My 10 Best Reasons to Learn Italian

There are a number of good reasons to learn Italian. 

In fact, a lot of people in today’s world are taking on the challenge of learning foreign languages, and Italian is one of the most sought after languages.


Now, let’s look at the 10 best reasons to learn Italian:

1.    You have fallen in love with an Italian.  Italians are very friendly people.

2.    Perhaps you wish to be proficient in Italian when you are visiting Italy, and you want to move around without having to get a guide or a translator.

3.    Maybe you have Italian ancestors.  One of the best reasons to learn Italian is so you can more easily explore and learn more about your roots.

4.    Perhaps you love foreign languages. That describes me, but I also love Italian food. I’ve already picked up a few Italian food phrases, such as, “mangiamo” [let’s eat.].

5.    If you are a fashionista, one of the best reasons to learn Italian might be so you can learn more about the world-famous expensive Italian designers. Examples of great Italian designers are: Fiera Di Milano, Armani, Versace and Gucci.

6.    It could be that you can greatly enjoy famous Italian operas and Italian pop music. We all know that Italian is a beautiful, flowing language.  It sounds so good.  It’s the language of passion and emotion.

7.    The Catholic Church has its home in Italy. I understand that foreign bishops and cardinals who wish to serve in Rome are obliged to learn the language. If you are catholic or if you want to explore one of the world’s major religions, you just might want to learn Italian prior to a visit to the Vatican.

8.    You may want to learn Italian simply because you have fallen in love with the Italy, and you want to explore the country in detail. Some students learn Italian when they study abroad in Italy.

9.    If you love Italian movies, you might want to learn Italian to better understand the movies.  Of course, watching the Italian movies will help you a great deal to learn the language.  Once you are more familiar with the language. You won’t have to depend on subtitles.  Then you can comfortably relax and just listen to the movie. One of my favorite movies is “The Godfather”, and I’d love to be able to follow some of the Italian spoken in the movie.


10.    Last but definitely not least, Italian lovers consider Italian the most beautiful spoken language in the world.  Italian is the official language or is spoken by a large percentage of the people who live in the following countries:
  • Argentina
  • Holy See (Vatican City)
  • Libya
  • Monaco
  • San Marino
  • Somalia
  • Switzerland
