Choosing Your Study Abroad Program

What role does academics play?

I recommend that you carefully study all of your home university’s publications regarding study abroad requirements. Don’t overly rely on one person. Ask questions about anything you don’t understand.

You need to make sure you receive academic credit for your time abroad, so you will need to speak with the proper officials at your home college or university to assure that you take the courses that they require.  You will probably need to bring home a transcript or have your grades officially reported to your home college or university.

If your classes will not be in English, you need to make sure you are proficient enough in the language of instructions. If you are not, remedy that before you start taking classes. It’s almost impossible to master the subject matter if you don’t know the language.

Now, after looking at academics, let's move on to housing options.
